Onset Of Egg Production: Begin feeding AMC 16% Layer Pellets exclusively as soon as the first egg is laid. Provide continuous access to the pellets to allow hens to feed at will. Do not restrict feed; layers should have constant availability to meet their nutritional needs.
Maintaining Egg Production: Ensure that feeders are clean, accessible, and filled daily to prevent spoilage and to maintain a hygienic feeding environment. Monitor feed intake to make sure hens are consuming an adequate amount; a laying hen typically consumes about 1/4 to 1/3 pound of feed per day.
Oyster Shell Supplementation: Offer AMC Oyster Shells in a separate feeder to provide extra calcium for strong eggshells. Allow free-choice access to the oyster shells; hens will consume what they need for optimal shell production.
